Being a photographer, it is important to research sources for inspiration and be knowledgeable on what current photographers are doing in the field. Recently, I came across a photographer named Peter Belanger. His main area of focus is product photography and he has an impressive list of clients such as Apple, Jamba Juice, Adidas, and Sony. What attracts me to his work is the straightforward, simple approach to the subject although he has some complex shots in his portfolio. The lighting is tailored to each object and shows the appealing qualities of it. He uses props to support the main item and completes the image. Below are some examples of his work. Portfolio Update
The end of the quarter is coming and I'm hard at work completing my portfolio. During my midterm review, I received the critique that I should improve on my propping. I took the advice and brainstormed ideas and this is what I came up with. I found some socks with a fun pattern and brought the imagery to life. With the journal, I used paper clips, pens, and a symmetrical pattern to complete the image.
Portraits!
Portraits! For a class I need to take ‘artistic’ portraits. So I thought I would take a couple of my old film cameras with me to capture the pictures. (Thanks to my girlfriend, Katy, for taking the photos.) I like the direction where these two images are going but they are not quite there yet. Will be reshooting soon!
